Going on a cruise is one of the most popular things to do for a vacation. Popular destinations for cruises include the Caribbean, Alaska, and the Mediterranean Sea. It is important to know not only what to pack, but also what not to pack for your cruise. Here are our pointers:
Packing for the first day
For the first day before you get your luggage, make sure to pack your essentials in your carry on bag. These include your travel documents, medications, one change of clothes, and a swimming suit.
Packing Clothes
In your luggage of course you will have all of your clothes with you that you will need to wear. Be sure to pack the following essential items:
Daytime Clothes

- Slacks and trousers for men
- Casual skirts and Dresses for women

- Sandals, Flip-Flops, or Sneakers

Nighttime Clothes
Depending on the formality of the cruise you will want to wear different attire. For casual dining, slacks and a nice shirt for men and sundress and pants for a woman are recommended. For smart casual men should bring a jacket and tie and women should wear a dress or suit. For formal, men should wear a suit or tuxedo and women should wear a formal dress. When you are packing make sure that you take clothes appropriate for the time of year that your cruise is in. However even if you are travelling during the warm summer vacation months make sure that you take at least one long sleeved shirt with you or pull over as the sea breeze can get very cool during the night.
Other Items to Pack
Other items to include when packing for a cruise is various toiletries such as shampoo, soaps, women toiletries, men toiletries, and of course your medications. Also pack with you a brief copy of your medical history in case you have something to go wrong. Do this especially if you have something like diabetes in case of a diabetic episode. In addition to medication if you have kids that are going with you on the cruise make sure that you pack fun stuff for them to do. While the cruise itself will be fun there is always a chance for rain or storms so it is extremely important to make sure that you pack something for them to do such as a small toy, coloring books or puzzles.
